Why were you given a ticket if you used a bus pass? Very odd business, I've just got one myself and haven't had this happen to me (yet).

Not the main buses - a small bus company. I now hear `Medway Council pay a set amount
to the bus companies - per year - to cover their costs - including the bus pass `.

Some small bus companies insist, you take a ticket then using a bus pass, & provide a small bag to put the ticket, straight in.

` New Venture ` is the bus company. Mainly the 142.

When I use my bus pass (usually Stagecoach) , the driver has no idea how long a journey I'm making.  I guess, they are given a lump sum each year to cover bus passes.

A nice guaranteed income for them.  Apart from wear on their seats and perhaps extra stop/starts at bus stops it makes little difference to them.

Mike. When you get a bit older, you will be entitled to one. It allows you to travel on local buses for free & depends on the Council issuing as to what " local" is. Here in the Manchester area, it covers all of Greater Manchester, so besides the centre, Bolton,Bury,Rochdale,Oldham, Thameside,Stockport,Trafford & Salford; so pretty extensive. They don't mess with " what you would have paid"!

Note that the age differs.  If you live in London it is 60, but in Kent or Medway we have to wait until we are 65.  Make of that what you will!

The Medway bus pass can be used throughout England.

No matter who its issued by,if your Bus Pass has a Red Rose symbol on it you can travel all over the country on it.
Mike you should have applied for yours 5 years ago. :)

Correction: 60 in Scotland, Wales, NI and London.  66 in the rest of England.  Odd though, my disabled persons bus pass (which also has the red rose) is valid until I'm 67!

A Medway o.a.p. pass allows you to use the pass at 9-00am instead of 9-30am, as with most
other o.a.p. bus passes. Useful if you get a bus to ` Bluewater ` for London connections.

Got mine at 65 when I retired recently, but of course the threshold for retirement age seems to be increasing all the time. I checked my pass and it does have the rose, which I must say I hadn't noticed before.

I am deeply hurt but your comments Grandarog! I look older because of my previous rock and roll lifestyle.

I am on my second bus pass and haven`t used it yet!

Also one other benefit is if you have a carer or someone that looks after you outdoors then you can register them and they go free with you also...

All over the country as in England. My Transport for Wales  card is only valid in Wales or local routes on the borders. Red Rose passes are not acepted
