Archibald McIndoe.

(1/1)

castle261:
He was appointed Plastic Surgeon to the R.A.F. in 1938 as Consulting Surgeon at East Grinstead.
He was born in New Zealand on May 4th 1900 -- died April 11th 1960 - at age 59.

I am surprised nobody has taken this up. He was responsible for training more plastic surgeon`s,
to treat bomber crew`s returning from operations over Germany & France with badly burnt bodies.
He gained a reputation & the `Quineas Pig`club was formed. Men were proud to belong - a lapel badge was issued - for the severely injured men to wear. A great man.
