I cycled past Rochester Airport as a flying Fortress, flying low, on a south to north course,
I stopped to watch as suddenly a green flare burst in to the sky. Now I was not sure,
whether the flare came from the fortress or the ground.
If it came from the fortress, I could indicate `I have wounded aboard & wish to land `.
If it came from the ground, it could indicate ` Airport landing area -- too short `.
The flying fortress flew on towards Essex --- I cycled on toward Tonbridge.
